Rock the Runway focuses on promoting and assisting international philanthropic initiatives. For 2012, RTR is partnering with SickKids, and is proudly to supporting their new Pan-Caribbean Pediatric Oncology Program.
SickKids is so much more than a children’s hospital. It is a place of hope for patients and their families, a hotbed for groundbreaking discoveries and a hub for continuous learning and the training of future generations. Founded in 1875, the world-class word of SickKids is driven by the integration of research, learning and care.
SickKids works to inspire communities to invest in health and scientific advances to improve the lives of children and their families in Canada and around the world. With a vision of healthier children and a better world, SickKids Foundation has launched a new project, The Pan-Caribbean Paediatric Oncology Program.
Working with six Caribbean countries: Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Trinidad & Tobago, SickKids will:
- train health professionals in oncology, nursing laboratory analysis, and pharmacy
- provide consultation and diagnostic expertise; and
- improve outcomes by developing protocols and expanding access to diagnosis and treatment
The goal of the partnership with these countries is to ensure more children are able to survive their diagnosis and lead healthy, productive lives.
